CAT Verbal Ability Syllabus / English: reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, syllogisms, analogies, antonyms and synonyms, fill in the blanks, sentence correction, idioms, etc.

Vocabulary: Vocabulary questions test the candidate's knowledge of word meanings primary, secondary shades of meaning, usage, idioms and phrases, antonyms, related words, etc.
Grammar: grammar based questions test the candidate's ability to identify and correct grammatical errors. CAT usually tested knowledge of grammar school level and includes areas such subject-verb agreement, the use of modifiers, parallel construction, redundancy, phrasal verbs, use of articles, prepositions, etc.
Verbal reasoning: verbal reasoning questions are designed to test the candidate's ability to identify patterns or relationships within groups of words or phrases.
